Reserve a library room?

Students may reserve library meeting rooms for up to two hours at either campus for group study by filling out a Meeting Room Reservation Request located on the Library Moodle site. Meeting room reservations must be made a minimum of one day ahead of the desired reservation date. Reservations will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Confirmed reservations may be viewed on the Computer Lab and Meeting Room Calendar on the Library Moodle site. If the students are unable for any reason to keep the reservation made, or will be late to come to the library, they need to contact the library staff at the library where the reservation is being held as soon as possible. If the students do not contact the library staff and do not arrive by thirty minutes after the time of the reservation, the reservation will be cancelled and the room will be made available to others.

Check out a textbook?

The South College Library carries a copy of each of the textbooks being used for classes each quarter. The textbooks for Lonas campus classes are held at the Lonas Library, textbooks for Parkside campus classes are held at the Parkside Library. Textbooks are for in library use only; to check out a textbook for use in the library, please present your South College ID card at the library desk.

Check out a laptop?

The South College Library carries 16 laptops for student use at each campus.  These laptops are for in library use only; to check out a laptop please present your South College ID card and driver’s license at the library desk. The first time you check out a laptop you will be asked to sign a Laptop User Agreement form and comply with its terms.  Library laptops check out for 2 hours at a time and cannot be renewed.  Library laptops are set up to print to the student printer located in each library.

Print in the library?

South College provides computer labs and printers in the libraries for student printing.  Printing costs are $0.03 per single sided page and $0.06 per double sided page.  Printing is black and white only. To print from a library computer, open your document and send it to the printer.  The computer will prompt you for your Student Portal username & password in order to charge the print job to your print account.

To print from a personal laptop, see the Web Printing instructions on the Student Printing page.

Make a photocopy?

South College provides photocopiers in the libraries for students to make copies.  Photocopying costs are $0.05 per single sided copy and $0.10 per double sided copy.  Photocopying is black and white only.  To make a photocopy, you must login to the machine by pushing the “Features” button next to the touchscreen.  The barcode number on your student ID card is your User ID, the Account ID is 0 (zero).  Please ask a library staff member for assistance in making double sided copies and how to make copies of both pages of a book.

Add money to my print/copy account?

To print or make photocopies, you must add money to your online printing and photocopying account.  Print/copy cards are available at both South College libraries and the bookstore in $5 and $10 increments. To purchase a card in the library, please present your South College ID and exact change at the library desk. Print/copy card sales in the library are cash only. You will receive a card and instructions for adding the code to your online print/copy account.
