Position Summary:

The Department Chair provides leadership for the implementation of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program.  The candidate must be committed to innovative and relevant education for Bachelor’s level nursing students.

Position Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include maintaining high standards of teaching, scholarship, and service; leading efforts for new program development including all accreditation efforts; managing a program budget; recruiting, hiring, and evaluating faculty; organizing student advising procedures; organizing faculty teaching loads and quarterly class schedules; developing and maintaining collaborations with other programs for interprofessional educational opportunities; and representing the Nursing program at the institutional level, as well as in the community at large.

Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have strong leadership skills and a passion for overseeing a quality educational program. Candidates should have earned a doctoral degree in Nursing; a degree in a discipline related to health care or education may be considered. Certification in nursing education is highly desirable. In addition, candidates must have a valid license for practice in the state of North Carolina, 5 years of professional experience in Nursing; at least three years higher education academic appointment with teaching responsibilities, and a successful record of teaching and professional experience.

Financial Aid Officer - Asheville Learning Site

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Financial Aid Director, the Financial Aid Officer will assist students in securing financial aid; communicate as directed with Federal, State, and local agencies which provide financial assistance to students; counsel and assist students regarding available sources of aid, the process to qualify, assist with completion of aid applications and other documents necessary to secure available financial assistance.

Key Job Elements:
• Work cohesively with the Admissions staff to provide outstanding service to prospective students and families.
• Counsel students and families regarding financial aid eligibility, application process, awarding process, availability of federal, state, institutional and other aid programs.
• Assist students and families with completion of documents necessary to secure appropriate financial aid awards.
• Coordinate awards from outside sources.
• Collect, analyze and verify documents and information from students and parents for accuracy and completeness.
• Determination of eligibility for federal, state and institutional financial aid for each applicant.

Network Engineer - South College

South College, main campus located in Knoxville, TN, invites applications for the position of Network Engineer.  The Network Engineer is a member of a team-oriented staff and shares in the responsibility of providing South College community with computing services. The Network Engineer is responsible for managing all Windows servers, network infrastructure, assisting users with questions and problems, troubleshooting computing problems, and a variety of other duties.

70%— SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT AND NETWORKING

Serve as the primary systems manager for all South College networks.

Duties include:

  1. Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
  2. Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.
  3. Responsible for the installation of server hardware and software infrastructure, as well as the assisting with the periodic review and recommendation of server, network, and communication hardware and software.
  4. Responsible for maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimization, including weekends and evenings.
  5. Responsible for the management of email and VPN accounts.
  6. Responsible for all data, voice, and video communication servers, devices, and user accounts.
  7. Responsible for the undertaking data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources.
  8. Responsible for the design and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience of the current environment with guidance from the Director of IT
  9. Responsible for upgrading data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases;
  10. Responsible for the configuration of routing and switching equipment;
  11. Management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices at South College.
  12. Install computer networks such as local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), the Internet, intranets, and other data communications systems.
  13. Liaising with project management teams, department managers and IT support Specialist on a regular basis.
  14. Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  15. Generating operating statistics for operational review and planning.
  16. Oversee the network printer setup and configuration of PC’s.
  17. Assist with the research and recommend new hardware platforms (desktop computers, servers, peripherals, etc.)
  18. Ensuring the daily backup of all server data and retrieving data from disaster recovery devices.

.20%—EDUCATION AND CONSULTING SERVICES

Duties include:

  1. Working with faculty on the development of their computing skills.
  2. Installing school/department and lab software.
  3. Arranging special workshops and sessions of interest to the academic departments.
  4. Completing orientation duties and ensuring all students have establishment e-mail and portal accounts.
  5. Assisting students, faculty, and staff with resolution of helpdesk tickets.
  6. Researching, reviewing, and testing new applications and technology ideas applicable to the academic departments.
  7. Coordinating the installation of computer labs.
  8. Participating in technology meetings, workshops, etc. held by and for the departments.
  9. Work with staff and faculty to prepare software for use.  This involves thorough testing and evaluation of all new software packages, including documentation.
  10. Provide consulting services to faculty and staff to help refine ideas for innovative projects involving academic computing, including recommendation of appropriate hardware, lab design, and software.
  11. Provide department-specific and general consulting services to students.
  12. Conduct computer workshops on supported hardware and software.
  13. Work with the staff and faculty to provide documentation and handouts for the programs and services available through the Information and Instructional Technologies.

10%— STAFF WORK

Attend all staff meetings.Serve on college committees as designated.Evaluate new technologies and software appropriate to SouthCollege.To assume such other duties as may be assigned by the OIT, EVP/Provost, and President.

Full-Time Faculty Position in Business Administration

The South College School of Business in Knoxville, Tennessee is seeking a highly motivated assistant or associate professor to join our experienced team as a full-time faculty member. The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in Management or Business Administration. Applicants possessing a terminal degree from an ACBSP accredited institution are preferred.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teach courses as assigned (on-ground and online) in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Meet each class as scheduled at the designated time and for the designated length of time.
  • Serve as academic advisor and carry out other academic duties as assigned in the undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Maintain a reliable schedule of office hours for student tutoring, remediation, course preparation, and course development as appropriate.
  • Participate in college committees, task forces, and other meetings as appropriate.
  • Participate in the assessment process through data collection and development of initiatives for improvement.
  • Develop new courses and course materials as appropriate for on-ground and online courses.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Participate in relevant professional development activities on an on-going basis.

The successful candidate should have an earned Ph.D. or DBA in a Business or Management discipline with preference given to those having at least 18 graduate semester hours in another field such as Finance, Marketing, Economics, or Accounting.  Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred.
