Mrs. Rebecca Smith joined South College as an adjunct instructor in May of 2006. She became a full-time instructor in the fall of 2007. In December of 2007, she became the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education. In 1994, Mrs. Smith earned a B.A. from Carson-Newman College in Psychology. After a few years working with the juvenile court system, she returned to school and earned an A. S. in Physical Therapist Assistant from South College in 1999.

After obtaining her PTA license in 2000, Mrs. Smith started her career at The Patricia Neal Rehabilitation Center. She also worked from 2000-2004 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center where she provided physical therapy for patients on the Transitional Care Unit and in the acute care setting. In 2004, she accepted a position with the Baptist Hospital in-patient rehabilitation unit. She currently works at Baptist West in the acute care setting on a prn basis. In 2006 Mrs. Smith accepted a position with Life Care Centers of America providing physical therapy to the nursing home population.

Mrs. Smith maintains memberships with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the Tennessee Physical Therapy Association. She is a member of the Education Section in APTA.
