School of Pharmacy

Welcome to the South College School of Pharmacy Website

The mission of South College School of Pharmacy is to prepare pharmacy students to be proficient practitioners who deliver team oriented, patient care with advocacy and compassion to diverse populations. The School of Pharmacy achieves its mission through commitment to excellence in education, scholarly activity including research, service, and patient care.

The Doctor of Pharmacy program of the South College School of Pharmacy was awarded Candidate accreditation status by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) during the January 16-20, 2013 meeting of the ACPE Board of Directors.

The School of Pharmacy offers an accelerated, three-year PharmD curriculum unique to pharmacy education in Tennessee. The PharmD program is designed to provide students with a curriculum and learning environment that prepares them to become effective practitioners and leaders in a dynamic healthcare profession.

Our West Knoxville campus is equipped with state-of-the-art classrooms and advanced instructional technology tools, along with faculty research and student compounding laboratories. Our faculty members are nationally recognized experts in teaching, research and practicing pharmacy. The School of Pharmacy is also supported by robust healthcare institutions and pharmacies in the Knoxville and surrounding area where students learn alongside dedicated healthcare professionals.

Reasons for students not completing on-time (i.e. 2 years for Associate degree programs, 4 years for Baccalaureate degree programs):

  • Withdrawal for a period of time before returning to complete program,
  • Academic performance resulting in repeat of one or more classes,
  • Changing of majors (beginning in Associate program and changing to Baccalaureate program), and/or
  • Part-time course load for one or more quarters.
An institution calculates an on‐time graduation rate for each program by:
* Determining the number of students who completed the program during the most recently completed award year,
* From the total students identified in step one, determining the number of students that completed the program within normal time, regardless of whether the student transferred into the program or changed programs at the institution, and
* Dividing the number of students who completed the program within normal time, as determined in step two, by the total number of students who completed the program, as determined in step one, and multiplying the result by 100.
Placement Rate - July 1, 2011 - June 30, 2012
