Welcome and thank you for visiting the South College School of Pharmacy website. On January 23, 2012 the School of Pharmacy was notified that it had been awarded Precandidate Status by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) Board of Directors. This accreditation status allows us to matriculate our first Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) class. Information about the accreditation process is located in the “Accreditation” section of the website. The School of Pharmacy is the latest addition to existing health professions programs at South College, which include a School of Physician Assistant Studies and a School of Nursing. The School of Pharmacy is a significant milestone for South College because the Pharm.D. degree is the first doctoral degree to be offered.
South College is a private, co-educational, non-sectarian academic institution that has been part of the fabric of Knoxville since 1882. We embrace the higher education mission of teaching, scholarly contribution, and service. Consistent with its long history, South College places primary emphasis on providing quality undergraduate and graduate educational opportunities for the intellectual, social, and professional development of a diverse student body. A major strength is our small college environment where individualized attention to student need is provided with a focus on growth, direction, and excellence.
Consistent with the history of South College, the mission of the School of Pharmacy is to prepare pharmacy students to be proficient practitioners who deliver team oriented, patient care with advocacy and compassion to diverse populations. The School of Pharmacy achieves its mission through commitment to excellence in education, scholarly activity including research, service, and patient care.
This environment includes our campus in West Knoxville that is equipped with state-of-the-art classrooms and advanced instructional technology tools. Our faculty members are nationally recognized experts in teaching, research and practicing pharmacy, and they are supported in their work by a talented group of professional staff. Also supporting our success in the Knoxville area are its robust healthcare institutions and pharmacies where students learn alongside dedicated healthcare professionals.
