Dr. Shiv Dhar has been faculty member and Course Director for 10 different chemistry courses (General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry) at South College, since August 2004. He graduated with a Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry, and earned his Ph.D. with a specialization in solid rocket propulsion from Pune University, India. Dr. Dhar’s career as a scientist and senior project manager at the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), in India, focused on solid rocket propulsion combustion mechanism and the research, development and application of high energy materials for gun and rocket propellants. He brings in a total of 18 years of strong analytical, creative thinking, training, mentoring, managerial and research experience in basic and applied science and technology, to the classroom. In addition, he has 7 years experience in teaching in the United States, and was conferred the “Distinguished Teaching Award” of South College in 2006.
