Ed Wise

MPH, PA

Adjunct Faculty

Current Position and Professional Experience:

Mr. Wise currently serves as a member of the Adjunct Faculty and as the Student Society Faculty Advisor for the Masters of Health Science Physician Assistant Program at South College in Knoxville, Tennessee. Mr. Wise retired in October 2003, from clinical practice in Occupational Medicine after working 29+ years as a staff Physician Assistant at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). During his career at ORNL, Mr. Wise managed programs on diverse subjects such as CPR, Ergonomics, Auditory Protection, Toxicology, and Hazardous Waste Safety which required patient and workplace education. Prior to his Physician Assistant training, Mr. Wise worked as a Clinical Care Technician II at Duke University Medical Center, Department of Medicine Clinical Cardiology Laboratory. As a Clinical Care Technician, Mr. Wise performed Exercise Testing and Echocardiography. Mr. Wise served in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Medical Service Corps Officer attaining the rank of Captain.


Professional Education:

Mr. Wise is a graduate of Washington & Jefferson College where he obtained a B.A. in Biology (Pre-Med) and a commission as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Medical Service Corps Officer. Physician Assistant education was obtained at Duke University with Certificate and B.H. S. upon completion, and a certificate in Occupational and Environmental Medicine latter in his career. A Masters of Public Health in Occupational and Environmental Health was obtained at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Mr. Wise has attended Treatment and Management of Radiation Injuries at the Oak Ridge Associated Universities REAC/TS Course.
