Dr. Gil Reed

Adjunct faculty, Anatomy & Physiology I

Dr. Gilmer Reed has been an adjunct faculty member in Anatomy and Physiology at South College since April of 2006. He earned a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in June of 1987 and completed a surgical residency in Podiatric Surgery at New Center Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He is Board Certified by The American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Dr. Reed has been in private practice in the Knoxville area since August of 1988. He is on staff at Baptist Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, Ft. Sander’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital and Park West Hospital and Surgery Center. He has had over 40,000 patient visits and completed over 1,500 bone and soft tissue surgical procedures.

Dr. Reed has the following patents issued or pending: United States Patent 6,804,902 issued October 19,2004 of an Adjustable arch support orthosis including variably tensioned arch curve and method of utilizing orthoisis; United States Patent Pending 10/623,495 filed June 19, 2004 for a Microvibrating external motor device for the suppression of appetite and hunger; United States Patent 6,393,736 issued May 28, 2002 for an Adjustable brace orthotics and method of treating plantar fasciitis and related foot disorders; United States patent 6,345,455 issued February 12, 2002 for a Orthotic arch support including self-adjustable arch curve and method of using orthotics.
