What You’ll Learn
Offered in Asheville, North Carolina and Knoxville, Tennessee, two cities at the heart of the Southeast’s craft beer revival, South College’s Certificate in Professional Brewing Science program offers real-world, classroom, and laboratory training to prepare you to enter the vibrant and growing craft beer industry. The program requires 40 credit hours, which can be completed by a full-time student in 9 months.
The first two quarters of this program give students a firm foundation in biology, chemistry, and math, and the third quarter explores beer production, quality control methodology, recipe development and sanitation in the field as well as the classroom. Students spend a 60-hour “externship” in a brewing facility and develop a business plan to deepen their knowledge of market trends and best practices. Courses will be delivered primarily in person, with some online work required.
