About the South College North Carolina Promise Scholarship
The South College North Carolina Promise Scholarship is a scholarship program effective Winter Term 2017. Recipients of this scholarship must meet the following requirements:
- Be a new applicant to South College (never attended South College previously) and accepted for general admission to the South College Asheville Learning Site (only available at this location).
- Declare pursuit of an undergraduate degree program of study offered at the South College Asheville Learning SIte. (Certificate programs are ineligible)
- Provide evidence of U.S. citizenship.
- Be of age 21 or under.
Applicants meeting the above requirements will receive this scholarship award to be applied to the direct costs of institutional charges for the first three quarters of study. Students must maintain full-time status with continuous enrollment through the first three quarters in an undergraduate degree program of study and must earn a minimum GPA of 2.0 each quarter in order to continue to receive the scholarship. If a 2.0 is not earned in quarter one, no additional scholarship funds will be awarded. Likewise for quarter two. The award amount for this scholarship is $4000 per eligible quarter for a maximum of three quarters to be applied to all eligible institutional charges regardless of federal aid (Title IV) and other aid eligibility.
This scholarship is offered to provide assistance for recent high school graduates or equivalent in order to help keep student loan debt to a minimum.

The South College North Carolina Promise Scholarship award is subject to change at the discretion of the college. Awards made to eligible students will not change as long as the student maintains eligibility as described above. Students with interruption of enrollment in the award period due to the satisfaction of program prerequisites may apply for an exception to the continuous enrollment requirement.
