Ashley Jordan is studying to become a physical therapist assistant through the PTA program at South College’s Asheville campus. With the close proximity to her home and being a well-respected program, Ashley could not pass up the opportunity to study at South College. Here is her story on taking a leap of faith and choosing to go back to school.
South College: Why did you pick your major?
Ashley Jordan: I worked for seven years in the financial industry before deciding it wasn’t the right career path for me. I decided to transition into the healthcare field, which I believed would bring me more fulfillment and ultimately chose the PTA program as the best fit for my interests.
SC: What stood out most to you about South College?
AJ: The convenient location in Asheville, an accelerated year-round program and the helpfulness of the admissions staff all were benefits of South College. They worked with me to get my transcripts in and classes scheduled and planned in a very short amount of time. This allowed me to complete all of my pre-requisites in one quarter and then begin the PTA program.
SC: Why did you pick South College over other schools?
AJ: It was definitely the speed of acceptance, no waiting list for the PTA program, the small classes and knowing it was a well-respected program.
SC: What is your favorite part about South College?
AJ: The teachers are very high quality, extremely knowledgeable in their fields and they truly care about the students being successful in their respective programs.
SC: What advice would you give to students looking to go back to school?
AJ: Be mentally and emotionally prepared to commit to school but take the leap and persevere. Once you have that diploma in hand, you will be so proud and thankful that you made that first leap leading you to a better future.
